A’S vs YANKEES MLB PLAYOFFS ANALYSIS
The Oakland Athletics will come into New York to take on the Yankees at Yankee Stadium. The A’s are taking a different pitching approach often seen by the Tampa Bay Rays this season. Instead of going with a traditional starter they will start reliever Liam Hendricks and then pitch the rest of the game by committee. The A’s have deployed this strategy on nine other occasions in September and have found tremendous success with it. In games pitched by committee they had an ERA of 1.86 over those games. Liam Hendricks pitched in this role eight times and came out with an ERA of 2.08 in those games. With the success the A’s have had with this strategy it is very difficult to see the Yankees scoring more than five runs especially in the playoffs where games are typically much lower scoring than in the regular season. The Yankees will not get long looks at any of the A’s pitchers which should make it difficult for them to get good reads on any of the A’s pitchers they will see in this game. Back the A’s to have another strong start by committee and keep the Yankees below 5 runs in this game.
