A’S vs ORIOLES MLB ANALYSIS
The Oakland A’s will look to increase their chances of catching the Astros in the AL West when they take on the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards on Tuesday night. We should see pitching take over this one as we have two very good starters taking the mound tonight. Alex Cobb will start for the Orioles and while he has poor numbers overall (5-15 with a 4.97 ERA) he has really had a strong second half to his season. In 6 of his last 7 starts he has held the opposition to 2 earned runs or less in all 6 of those starts. He also pitched at least 6 innings in all those starts. He faces a tough offense in Oakland tonight but with the way he has pitched over these last 7 games he should be able to keep the A’s from doing too much on offense. Mike Fiers is the starter for Oakland and he has been very good since this year. He has an 11-6 record with a 3.36 ERA. Like Alex Cobb, Fiers has also been very good of late. Just like Cobb, Fiers also has not allowed more than 2 runs in 6 of his last 7 starts. This is a very bad sign for the Orioles offense who rank just 29th in the MLB in runs scored.
Runs should be very hard to come by with this pitching matchup. Back the under in the first 5 innings here and expect another strong outing from both pitchers.
